Unveiled at the 2017 Shanghai Motor Show, the 2018 Lexus NX features slight modifications to Lexus’ smallest utility vehicle. The nose seems a little smoother, thanks to a revised front bumper and the upper grille. The new headlights look like the new LC flagship coupe units.
2018 Lexus NX Redesign
The 2018 Lexus NX gets a handful of minor revisions to its spindle grille and redesigned front and rear lights, which continue to lead out with an L-shaped LED daytime running lights strip highlighting the lighthouses slender and swept back. You should be an expert to notice them unless the new model is next to a previous one. Alternatively, the wide grille at the top and bottom, pinch inward in the middle continues to come out and drive the aggressive front, with a different and softer pattern of horizontal silver bars for the hybrid version.
Lexus has become known for its high level of artful craftsmanship through its TAKUMI masters. For all NX’s in 2018, their skills and attention to detail are highlighted in the revised embroidery on the vehicle’s leather surfaces, which are sewn perfectly straight. This complex model can only be executed using manual machines equipped with special needles resistant to overheating and breaking of the wire. Although not immediately apparent, special attention to detail, such as how seams create subtle patterns, can be felt spiritually to make a difference to the customer. This is the essence of the TAKUMI method that elevates the entire construction of a Lexus, said Takeaki Kato, chief engineer of the 2018 Lexus NX.
2018 Lexus NX Interior
Interior upgrades are subtle and include a new metal finish for several redesigned buttons, buttons and HVAC controls. A large 10.3-inch central display screen is newly optional; It is controlled by a revised remote touchpad which, we hope, will improve the frustrating interface of the current model. A foot motion sensor to open the power tailgate has been added to the available functions. Lexus said it has retuned the suspension for a better turn-in and a smoother ride. Adaptive dampers are a new addition and there is more soundproofing, which should help with sound insulation. Active safety features, including Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Departure Warning, are now standard on all 2018 Lexus NX.
2018 Lexus NX Engine Specs
Under the hood, the 2018 Lexus NX remains essentially the same as last year. The NX 300, which replaces the NX 200t, is powered by a 2.0-liter in-line four-cylinder developing 235 horsepower, while the 300h retains its powertrain of a four-cylinder in-line 2.5-liter and two-liter electric motors. However, Lexus has made some adjustments to the suspension, adjusting the springs, stabilizer bars and bushings to improve responsiveness and adding new dampers for smoother ride.
